This blog is supposed to focus on my life as an author of crime novels, but I can't resist sharing the beautiful flowers I received this week. Sadly the purple tulips a friend brought me last week have gone but they were fabulous as well. Yes, lots of purple flowers with my spring daffodils! They cheered me up while I was feeling low - as did all the good wishes I received online. Thank you.

I hope you're not still in hospital? I shall continue to think about you and hope that your recovery speeds up. I don't think it's unusual to feel a bit down after you've been ill. Don't worry, it will pass. Summer is coming, as your beautiful flowers remind you.
Thanks, Star. I'm home from hospital (hurrah!) The hospital staff were really lovely, but there's no place like home.
Flowers are always such a cheerful gift to receive.
I hope you're much better now.
Lovely, aren't they, Debs? It's such a shame they don't last very long. That's why I took a photo and they look so beautiful I couldn't resist sharing the image here. Not exactly crime fiction but everyone's entitled to a little break now and again, aren't they?
I'm glad you are home. They are very lovely flowers.
Interesting contrast: flowers and crime fiction...;-) Thought about making one of your badguys a flower lover?
Thanks, Charles, they are lovely aren't they? And it's certainly great to be home - especially as Michael is such a great cook! But that's not reflection on the hospital staff who were fantastic, despite being so overworked and underpaid. All in all I was very lucky.
Nice idea, Guillaume. When you come across a flower loving killer in one of my books, you'll know where the idea came from!
Sorry to hear you've been ill, but glad you're home and feeling better now. Best wishes.
Thanks, Dabrah. Your good wishes are much appreciated.
lovely flowers...hope you feel better, and soon.
Aren't they lovely, Cynthia. I'm feeling much better, thank you.
Hello Leigh,
It's always nice to receive flowers, they do so cheer you up. It's a shame they stopped allowing them in hospitals, as I am sure that some colourful flowers on display, must go a long way to aiding recovery.
I guess that your favourite colour is purple then? It's a colour that I am well used to, as my sister-in-law and nieces all love the colour, as you can see by just going into any of their rooms and houses.
Eldest niece gets married later this year and just about everything but the wedding dress is going to be purple. If she had her way, the wedding invitations would have suggested a purple only dress code for the guests, but even she thought that may be going a bit too far!! LOL
Yvonne
Yes, you guessed my favourite colour. No great secret, I have to say as I always wear purple. Every seven years or so I am really in fashion!
I'm sorry, I didn't realise you had been in hospital, im hoping it wasnt too serious and that you've recovered and are fine. The flowers are magnificent, wishing you a speedy recovery! :)
Thanks, Rose!
