I love my new room with my spacious new desk and absence of distraction so much that I've written another book since my last post. I'm in the process of self editing it and have even passed the MS on to my trusted readers (3 members of my family). Is that a good enough reason for not blogging for a while? One of the advantages of my new room is that my laptop has no internet access BUT the new cable is now in place and my desktop will shortly be moved up there. I wonder if I'll be as prolific once I can access my email and ... my BLOG! or will the temptation prove too great?

Other news is that CUT SHORT has reappeared on my publisher's website with a new publication date of March 2009. By this time next year, all being well, I will (finally) be a published author! I know I shouldn't be feeling this excited after such a protracted wait - and I have been in this position before - but I'm really excited. Let's hope it all goes ahead this time.

Although the book is still a way off, you can read about the book, by googling CUT SHORT Leigh Russell and clicking on No Exit Press Stock List and finding it there.

What an amazing feeling that must be, to know you've got a publication date at last. Congrats :D

You've done exactly what is needed to pass the time: completed another book. I hope no other delays get in the way of 'Cut Short' being launched. You have every right to be excited. Maybe you can sell a couple more manuscripts by the time 'Cut Short' hits the book shelves.

Another book already? wow, you have been productive. I should give up blogging for a while, maybe. As for internet access, I actually use it all the time now in my writing to fact check stuff. Last night I had to research naval battle tactics for the WIP I'm on now and it really helped without proving to be a distraction.

Looking forward to "Cut Short."

Look at you, Leigh - another book already! You rock!!

And hurrah for the publication date. Some of us were wondering if No Exit Press was really Dead End Press by another name. I guess I'll never understand why they don't just print the sucker now, instead of waiting for some arbitrary future date...but I guess that would throw all the bean counters and spreadsheet makers into a tizzy, and surely we can't have that!

Um...can you give us some hints about the new book?

ELIZABETH - thank you and yes, although the last date was postponed....

BERNARDL - ain't no stopping me now!

CHARLES G - yes, the internet is so brilliant for research. It must have taken so much longer to write anything before. I wonder how many researchers have become redundant? or is there more of a need for them now the amount of information has exploded?

BILL - no hints! you'll have to wait - it's not a 'book' yet, just a MS. The very exciting thing for me is that I feel I've developed in my craft of writing after my protracted learning curve on Cut Short. I have an inkling of how to write now. I think...

Crikey, I wish I had been that productive, well done.

Looking forward to receiving your book. I've had the occasional email from Amazon telling me it's been delayed and now I know when to expect it.

Oh, man, the internet is AWFUL for me. I must STOP. My new computer will reach Panera's access across the street from Borders. I can't stop myself! It's such a time suck.

You have every right to be getting exciting about joining the ranks of published writers...well done. I can't wait to be where you are now (if ever!).
Don't link up with the internet in your writing space!! It is far too much of a temptation to waste time blogging and emailing. I have the family PC linked to the good old interweb, but I always do my writing on my laptop (internet free)in my bedroom. Take this evening for example: I had every intention of working on my novel, but I sat down at the PC - just for five minutes! - to check my emails, and here I still am...blogging!!
:D

Wow, I googled Cut Short! That must be an amazing feeling.
I can't wait to read it!

And another one to come? You're spoiling us!

Great news Leigh, about the book.

Hmmm, I would keep away from the net as it will distract.

Middle Ditch 14 is now online

Congrats on the new publication date, what exciting news, and another book written - you have been a busy bee! I'm fairly sure that no internet is a good way of not getting distracted, but hopefully your distractions also act as inspiration to you!
